Ohio Trip: Final Fling Before the Ring!

After the bridal shower, we headed to Indian Lake for a girls getaway! Kelly, Amy's sister-in-law and co-matron of honor, found the house for us. She did an amazing job because the house was absolutely gorgeous.

We started the night handing out cute t-shirts for everyone to wear. The shirts were a really good idea. When we were out and about, we got a lot of compliments on them. :)

After some food and fun drinks at the house, we played a few innocent bachelorette games, and then we headed out to bars around the lake. :) Since I've been living in a city for awhile, I forgot how country it can be back home. I've never seen so many Harley Davidson cut off tees and short jeans shorts in one place, but as always, we had a great time meeting all sorts of people and dancing the night away!

All of Amy's parties went extremely well, and I'm pretty sure everyone had a great time. I'm really honored that I was able to help put something like this together for Amy. It was such a fun process! Also, I was extremely happy to finally meet some of Amy's friends and family that I've always heard about but have not yet met. They are so nice and wonderful. It makes me incredibly excited for the wedding on Oct.3! Yay!
Oh yeah...I almost forgot to mention

Since we had extra t-shirts, I was able to get one for Tom. Maybe giving it to him was a mistake because when he puts it on, he gets in party mode and goes crazy.... :)

Ohio Trip: Around the Clock Bridal Shower

I was really excited to be back in my hometown and get ready for Amy's bridal shower and bachelorette party. As co-matron of honor (doesn't that sound funny?!) I was really anxious to finally be in Ohio to work on everything. Luckily, Millie P. helped out with flower center pieces and making her famous egg rolls. Then we prepared most of the food Friday afternoon. After making food with Millie P, I headed over to the in-laws. My mother-in-law was super helpful and baked her fabulous sugar cookies for the parties. We spent most of the evening decorating the cookies for the bridal shower and bachelorette party. Of course, for dinner my lovely in-laws ordered some Cassano's pizza. (YUM!)

Enjoy the pics below...

The theme of the bridal shower was "Around the Clock". We made these cookies to incorporate the theme more. We set all the hands to 3:30 because that is when Amy and Steve is set to tie the knot!

These are lingerie cookies that Lois and I made for the bachelorette party. :)

The cookies were a big hit at the party! :)

Food: OH MY GOODNESS! There was so much yummy food. It was absolutely ridiculous! Of course, for all your weight watcher people out there, it was all 0 points because bridal showers and bachelorette parties fall under the 0 point category. Therefore, I ate a lot. :) We had chicken salad, two different types of pasta salad (one sweet with poppy seed dressing, one greek style), Millie P's egg rolls, fruit/ham kabobs, Lois's sugar cookies and stuffed strawberries, and of course cake!

Center pieces: Flowers were from our local flower shop...Didn't Millie P do a good job of picking them out?! I found the clocks at Goodwills around Portland. Tracking down all the clocks that went with the room was a little challenging, but I did it! Tom love the idea that I actually wanted to go to Goodwills to find things, and we did a lot of the clock searching together. Also, I made the table tents that labeled the different times the guests were assigned to bring Amy.

Next post, Amy's bachelorette party...

End of Summer 2009

Hey Folks!

Sorry it's been awhile since I've last posted. I recently got back from a trip to my hometown. It was a nice, relaxing trip. I have tons of pictures, but I think I'll post those pictures later this week. For this post, I wanted to put up some pictures from this past summer. :)

Since last March, I've been involved in a program called Homework Helpers. During the school year, I would go to an apartment complex and tutor grade school children for about 2 hours after school. It was really cool to be apart of this group and watch the kids learn the new material and eventually master the new material. For the summer months, I helped out at the same apartment complex handing out free lunches to children. Sometimes before lunch, we'd practice some math or reading skills. Since I spent a lot of time volunteering over there, I've made a lot of great friends and became attached to some of the children. A few weeks ago, it was my last day volunteering. It was a really sad saying bye to everyone...I had an amazing experience there, and I am glad I had the opportunity to help out.

In the orange shirt is Jacki. She created the tutoring program and headed the free lunch program. In the stripe shirt is Suzanna, a fellow volunteer for the free lunches. The little girl standing next to me is Dahiro...I worked with her a lot during Homework Helpers and she always kept me company while I served free lunches. I already miss her... :*(

Me with a few of the kids...I'm in the pink in the back. Yes, I know...I blend in with the grade school age children pretty well.

Below are just fun pictures from our last pool party.

This past summer was amazing....absolutely beautiful weather. I hope fall is just as nice. I think I'm liking Oregon more and more... :)

Tom and Adrienne Adventure III

Day 3 of the Tom and Adrienne Adventure

We decided to take the long way off Whidbey Island by crossing over Deception Pass. Before we crossed it, we decided to stop and do a little more sightseeing. You can't see it from the pictures, but there are trails to walk down to the water. We had a great time walking around and enjoying the view.

Since it was also our one year anniversary (yay! we made it!), we decided to stop and explore downtown Seattle. :)

After a pretty full weekend, we decided to call it an early night and finished our adventure at Elliot's eating a fabulous seafood by the water.

We had such a great time staying on the island and finishing our trip in downtown Seattle. It's going to be pretty hard topping this anniversary next year. :)
